The AP and the K
The Asahi Pentax AP was the first 35mm SLR produced by the Asahi to use a pentaprism viewfinder. The camera is named by collectors, like me, Pentax AP but actually that name was never officially documented.
In 1958, the Asahi Pentax K, a variant of the AP was produced. The K upgraded the camera with a semi automatic diaphragm. Both the Asahi Pentax and Pentax K were hand built cameras produced in Japan.
